This does not work. Downloaded several windows server 2008 drivers for 32 bit hp laserjet 5000 and it will not accept any of them. This is very frustrating as we are doing a NOS migration from novell 6.5 to windows.

A 32bit Windows 7 machine should be able to grab a driver from a 32 bit Windows 2003 server just fine and likewise a Windows XP 64 bit workstation should be able to grab a print driver from a Windows Server 2008 installation.

This is a quick how-to for adding additional print drivers to your print server. This is a very easy method, especially if you have existing computers that are of a different platform than your server and have been able to print.

Go to the server and add 'additional drivers' under Sharing. Click on the x64 and point it to the XP64 bit driver. That should install X64 driver and you should be able to add the printer on any MS 64 bit OS. This works for our Win7 64 Bit OS users (HP P3005X printer).

The "additional drivers" dialog in the printer's properties on the win 2003 server does not offer an option for vista drivers. I wasn't even able to install the shared printer on the server manuallöy with the "add printer" button and have vista use the built-in driver.
